“Whether I’m walking barefoot along the shore, watching the waves crash from the distance, or gazing up at the big open sky, the beach never fails to relax and recharge me. Its beauty lies in the simplicity of its natural elements – the ocean, the sand, and the sky. That is why the beach will always be my favorite place in the world.”

This closing paragraph restates the main points connecting the three key aspects described while also reiterating the overall theme of why the beach is the writer’s favorite location. It provides a sense of resolution for the reader.

Example #2: Persuasive Essay – School Start Times
For a persuasive essay assignment, students may be asked to take a stance and argue for or against a topic related to school policies. Here is a sample introductory paragraph for arguing that middle school start times should be later:

“Many experts and studies agree that middle school students do not get enough sleep, which negatively impacts their health, learning, and well-being. Citing research facts and statistics provides evidential support for the claim being made. Academic vocabulary like “circadian rhythm,” “melatonin,” and “chronically sleep deprived” give the writing an authoritative tone.

The second body paragraph argues how later start times improve student success:

“School districts that have moved to later start times of 8:30 am or later have seen dramatic benefits. Attendance rates go up as tired kids miss less school. Test scores and grades also rise significantly as alert, well-rested students perform better academically. Even student behavior issues decrease when teenagers can get the sleep their growing bodies need. It is clear from these real-world outcomes that delaying the school day helps middle schoolers thrive mentally and physically.”
