Do not insert ambiguous attribution like “some argue” or “many believe;” such phrasing distances the writer from fully committing to a stance and establishing it as their own original analysis requiring defense. Directly state “This paper argues” or a similar definitive attribution of the thesis position only to the writer and current research. If multiple valid positions exist, address them directly through comparison and contrast to frame your original contribution.
