Introduction
Going on holiday is something that most people look forward to every year. It provides an opportunity to relax, unwind and experience something new. Holidays allow us to escape from our regular routines and spend quality time with family and friends in different surroundings. In this essay, I will provide an example of an essay about going on holiday to Bali, Indonesia. I will discuss the planning process, activities done each day, sights seen and how the holiday enriched my life experience.
Planning the Holiday
Planning the perfect holiday takes time and careful consideration. For this trip to Bali, I began researching options online about 6 months in advance. Bali was high on my list of dream destinations due to its beautiful beaches, vibrant culture and reasonable prices. After comparing different regions of the island, I decided the Canggu area would be a good base as it had a lively atmosphere but was still quite peaceful. I used booking websites and travel forums to find a comfortable guesthouse within my budget. Flights were booked 3 months in advance to get reasonably priced tickets. A rental car was also arranged to provide flexibility to explore. Money was budgeted for activities, meals out and shopping. With the main components in place, I was eagerly counting down the days until departure.
Arrival and Settling In
The 12 hour flight journey finally ended when I touched down in Bali. After navigating through the airport, I was introduced to the hot, humid climate. My guesthouse was a pleasant 15 minute drive away located down a quiet lane. The room was simple yet comfortable with an outdoor veranda overlooking rice fields. It was the perfect home base after long days of exploring. That evening, I ventured out on foot to a nearby beach for sunset. Sitting on the sand watching the colorful sky was a soothing end to the travel portion of the trip. I retired to my room excited to start fully experiencing this beautiful island paradise the next day.
Activities and Sights: Day 1
Eager to make the most of my time, I rose early for a yogic sunrise session on the picturesque cliff top shores near my guesthouse. Stretching and flowing under the pink and orange sky was a spiritual and energizing way to start the day. After a nourishing breakfast, I drove south to Ubud, the cultural capital of Bali. I spent a few hours wandering the winding streets, browsing craft shops and taking in the scenic vistas. A traditional Kecak and fire dance performance that evening was mesmerizing. Returning to Canggu in the darkness, the stars were brilliant in the inky sky. Reflecting on the busy yet rewarding first day had me slumbering peacefully, eagerly awaiting another full itinerary.
Activities and Sights: Day 2
Day two began with a scenic coastal drive along rugged cliffs and beaches. My first stop was the artistic enclave of Seminyak with its lovely shaded lanes and abundance of chic boutiques and cafes. After a light lunch, I headed to the world famous surf breaks at Padang Padang and Dreamland beach. Watching expert surfers tackle towering barrels was very impressive. Aerial views of the shoreline revealed gorgeous untouched coves. Later that afternoon, I headed inland to the lush jungles of Ubud. Wandering the lush grounds of the royal palace compound was like stepping back in time. Colourful offerings and the scent of incense added to the mystical atmosphere. As the sun dipped low, I returned to Canggu satisfied with all that was covered in a single day.
Activities and Sights: Day 3
With only one full day remaining, I rose before dawn to catch the iconic sunrise over Mt. Agung in Karangasem. Driving through sleepy villages lit by lampposts as the sky brightened was serene. Upon reaching the peak, the first rays peeking above the mountain took my breath away. I lingered until the sky transformed into a brilliant spectacle of orange and pink hues. On the drive back towards Canggu, I stopped at spectacular beaches along the eastern coast. Spending time strolling the white sands, watching surf and enjoying fresh seafood for breakfast rejuvenated my spirit. After checking out of my guesthouse, I ventured to Lembongan Island just off the coast for the remainder of the afternoon. Snorkeling the pristine waters, spotting turtles and colorful coral made for very memorable experiences. As the sun lowered in the sky once more, I sadly boarded the ferry back to my driver awaiting on the mainland, signaling the end of an all too brief yet thoroughly magical visit to Bali.
Conclusion
In just a few short days, my holiday to Bali exceeded my expectations and gave me a small taste of the rich culture, natural beauty and relaxed pace of life that this enchanting island has to offer. I was able to see iconic destinations, immerse myself in daily activities and experience true Balinese hospitality. The memories and experiences will stay with me for years to come. While a longer stay may have allowed for further adventures into remote areas, I was able to maximize my time efficiently. Going forward, I will certainly return again to further explore Bali’s immense charm and positively impacting atmosphere. Overall, this brief visit enriched my life through cultural exchange and laid the foundations for future travel yet to come.
