Information on the research instruments and validity/reliability should be provided as well. The timeframe and expected outcomes of the project should also be outlined. This section should be 4-6 pages in length.
Analysis and Results
This section is only included for proposals involving primary research or pilot studies. It will describe how the collected data will be analyzed and presented. Hypothesized or expected results based on the literature review and research methods should also be discussed. This can be 1-2 pages.
Significance and Implications
The proposal must explain the significance of conducting the proposed research and how it advances knowledge on the topic. It should clarify how the results could potentially be useful, have societal impacts, lead to future research directions, or inform policies and practices. This section is typically 1-2 pages.
References
All sources cited within the proposal text must be properly referenced in APA, MLA, or other appropriate style. At least 10 credible sources are expected. This section is not included in the overall page count.
Appendices
Optional appendices could include research instruments, interview questions, example materials from pilot studies, etc. Appendices are not included in the page count.
Overall Style Guidelines
The proposal should be typed, double-spaced with 1-inch margins, and use a 12-point font such as Times New Roman. Pages should be numbered and sections clearly delineated with headings. Spelling and grammar must be flawless. The overall length is typically 10-15 pages total not including references and appendices. Proposals not adhering to formatting guidelines may be rejected.
Submission of the proposal allows the researcher to obtain feedback for improvement as well as an assessment of whether the project merits approval and resources to implement.
