Introduction
The introduction paragraph should be between 100-200 words. It needs to grab the reader’s attention and introduce the topic and context of the essay. Include a clear thesis statement that outlines the main argument and conclusion.
Body Paragraph 1 (500-800 words)
The first body paragraph must clearly connect back to the thesis statement. It should have a topic sentence that relates to the main point of the paragraph. Use specific facts, examples, data or opinions from experts to support the topic sentence. Explain how these relate to the thesis and essay question.
Consider including a direct quote of 120 characters or less that is highly relevant. Quote attribution needs to smoothly flow into your own analysis words. Directly address the quote and comments in your own words and link it back to the thesis.
The paragraph should have logical progression and flow smoothly. Conclude the paragraph by restating the main point in your own words and linking it to the next paragraph topic. Ensure the conclusion is not just a repetition of the topic sentence.
Body Paragraph 2 (500-800 words)
Follow the same structure as the first body paragraph. Introduce a new topic that builds upon and supports the overall thesis statement. Provide strong evidence and sources to back up the claims.
Consider including a paraphrased summary of 160 characters or more that synthesizes a key idea from research. Introduce and attribute the paraphrased information smoothly and seamlessly into the flow of the paragraph analysis. Directly relate it back to supporting the overall essay argument.
Conclude by restating the main point and linking it to the next paragraph topic while also connecting back to how it supports the thesis. The conclusion should not just repeat the topic sentence.
Body Paragraph 3 (500-800 words)
Continue following the structure of the previous paragraphs. Introduce another new topic that builds upon your overall argument. Ensure diverse high quality, credible sources are used as evidence to strengthen the analysis.
Consider including a statistic of 160 characters or more directly from research. When including data or statistics, give the full numerical figure before contextualizing or analyzing it. Attribute the statistic to the original source. Relate the data back to proving or supporting the thesis statement.
Conclude by restating the main point of the paragraph and linking it back to the overall conclusion you will draw in the next section. The paragraph link should not just repeat the topic sentence.
Conclusion (250-300 words)
Summarize the three main points concisely without introducing new information. Restate the thesis statement and provide a concluding statement that draws together how the evidence undeniably proves the overall argument. Do not just repeat the intro paragraph.
Consider a relevant 150 character call to action or reflection on the implications of your conclusions as it relates to the context of the essay topic. Leave the reader with a significant final thought to reflect on regarding the thesis and content within the essay.
