Dear friend,
I hope this message finds you resting and beginning to feel better. I wanted to send you a note to let you know that my thoughts are with you as you recover from your illness. Getting sick is never fun, but I have full confidence that you will bounce back to feeling like your old self in no time. Rest and taking it easy is important right now, so please don’t hesitate to put your feet up and relax as much as you need to.
I remember the last time you weren’t feeling well – it seemed like you were down for the count for over a week. But soon enough, you were back to your energetic self and acting like nothing had even happened. You’ve always been tough as nails and a fast healer, so I have no doubt that this time will be no different. Still, in the meantime, don’t try to power through – listen to your body and give it what it needs to fight off whatever is making you under the weather. Drink plenty of fluids, get extra sleep, and eat foods that are easy to digest. Soup is always a great choice when you’re not feeling 100%.
While relaxation and rest are important, I also wanted to remind you that your mental health matters too. Being cooped up inside the house sick can start to wear on your mood after a while. So if you’re up for it, try doing small activities that you enjoy, even if they’re low energy. Watch a funny movie or TV show, do a simple craft or puzzle, listen to an upbeat podcast – things that can lift your spirits. It’s okay to just let your mind wander and daydream too. I also find that being outside in the fresh air and sunshine, even for just 15-20 minutes if you have the energy, can do wonders. Just take it very easy and go at your own pace.
Remember that getting over an illness takes time. Be patient with yourself as your body does the work of recovering. Comparing your progress to others or expecting too much too soon will only make you feel more frustrated. Every day that passes is another step in the direction of feeling better, even if improvements seem small at first. Each night of restorative sleep brings you closer to having your strength back. I know the walls might start to close in being cooped up indoors, but this too shall pass before you know it.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything at all I can do for you during your recovery time. I’m happy to pick up groceries or prescriptions, make a homecooked meal for your freezer, or even just chat on the phone to help pass the time. You’re not alone in this – I’m here cheering you on from the sidelines and sending positive thoughts your way. This illness won’t keep a tough cookie like you down for long.
Wishing you all the best as you focus on getting your rest, nourishment, hydration and vitamins. You’ll be back in tip top shape in no time. Please don’t rush your recovery – take all the time you need. We’ll all be here eagerly awaiting your return to 100% health. In the meantime, give yourself permission to relax, recuperate and take good care. You’ve got this!
Talk soon and feel better,
