What makes me a unique candidate for an MBA program? This is a question I have pondered extensively in preparation for my graduate school applications. While all individuals possess inherent qualities that set them apart, truly standing out requires deep introspection and examples to illustrate one’s distinctiveness. Through my diverse experiences, I have cultivated a multifaceted perspective and versatile skill set that will enrich any MBA cohort.

From a young age, I have been intrinsically fascinated by different cultures and ways of thinking. Born in India but raised internationally, I am fluent in three languages and conversant in regional nuances across Asia, Europe, and North America. My upbringing exposed me to diverse worldviews, cultivated cultural sensitivity, and fostered an outside-the-box, globally-networked mindset. I thrived in multicultural environments, easily adapting to change while appreciating diverse viewpoints. This shaped me into a natural bridge-builder attuned to navigating complex multinational ecosystems.

My eclectic career path further underscores my adaptability and hunger for new challenges. After graduating with a bachelor’s in computer engineering, I spent two years as a software developer at a Silicon Valley startup. There, I gained hands-on technical skills while also learning the intricacies of running a small business. Seeking a change, I then transitioned to investment banking in Hong Kong, diversifying my expertise into financial modeling, deal valuation, and negotiating across borders. Most recently, I founded my own social enterprise in Southeast Asia specializing in renewable energy technologies and women’s empowerment.
