Getting an internship is an important step for students to gain real world work experience in their field of study. Many companies require interns to undertake research projects or assignments that allow them to apply what they’ve learned in school and demonstrate their skills and knowledge. This often involves writing a research paper about their internship experience. Here are some tips for writing an effective internship research paper in APA format:

Title Page and Abstract
The title page should include the title of the paper centered at the top, your name and affiliation (school name) also centered below. The page number is top right. The next page contains the abstract, which is a 150-250 word summary of the key points of the paper, including the purpose, main findings or arguments, and conclusions. Do not indent the first line.

Introduction
The introduction should introduce the topic being discussed and provide necessary background information. State the purpose and goals of the internship and research. End with a clear thesis statement of what the paper will discuss. The introduction is typically 3-5 paragraphs.

Methodology
Provide a detailed description of the activities, tasks and responsibilities undertaken during the internship. Explain the methodology used for any research conducted such as data collection, observations, interviews, surveys. Discuss the site and people involved. If applicable, describe any materials or tools used such as software. This section allows the reader to understand how conclusions were reached.

Results and Discussion
Present the major outcomes, findings or conclusions from the internship and any research. Interpret and analyze the significance and implications of the results. Compare results to other studies if possible. Discuss whether conclusions support or oppose existing theories or knowledge. Relate results back to goals and research questions. This is typically the largest section of the paper.

Conclusion
Summarize the key points and purpose of the paper without simply repeating the introduction. Restate the main conclusions and whether goals were achieved. Discuss limitations and suggestions for future research. End with a final statement of the importance and implications of the findings. Avoid introducing new information.

References
Cite all sources used in-text and provide a reference list following the article. Use the author-date method of citation. Arrange references alphabetically by author’s last name. Use hanging indentation. Check for consistency of format.

Appendices (optional)
Include any supplement materials too detailed for the main body in appropriately labeled appendices. This could include things like raw data, statistical results, questionnaires, interview transcripts, photos. Refer to the appendices within the text.

Formatting
Follow all APA formatting guidelines including:

Double spaced throughout
1 inch margins all around
Times New Roman 12pt font
Page numbers top right on every page after the title page
Header with shortened title in upper left of every page

Proofread thoroughly before submission to catch any typos, formatting inconsistencies, flow issues etc. Ask others to proofread as well. An APA internship paper should be well-structured, coherent and cohesive in presenting the key activities, methodologies, findings and insights gained from the experience. Stick to the high research standards of APA style to make a strong professional impression!
