Dear Professors, Advisors and Colleagues,
I would like to acknowledge and express my sincere gratitude to all those who have supported and assisted me during my research project titled “The Impact of Online Social Media Usage on Teen Mental Health.” This research would not have been possible without their help, guidance and encouragement throughout this process.
First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest appreciation to my research advisors, Dr. Susan Smith and Dr. John Doe. I am extremely grateful for their invaluable guidance, support and patience. Their insights, feedback and critiques were instrumental in strengthening my research methodology and analysis. Dr. Smith’s expertise in social media behavior studies and Dr. Doe’s knowledge of adolescent psychology helped me gain a more nuanced understanding of the relevant literature. I am thankful for the countless hours they spent mentoring me and helping refine my ideas. Their leadership and encouragement sustained me throughout the challenges of this project.
I also wish to thank the members of my thesis committee – Dr. William Johnson, Dr. Sarah Williams and Dr. Robert Brown. I am deeply grateful for their time and efforts in reviewing my research proposal and providing insightful feedback that helped improve the overall quality and focus of my study. Their thought-provoking questions and constructive criticism during the defense were extremely useful. I appreciate their expertise and guidance that strengthened various aspects of my research.
I am also grateful to Dr. Thomas Moore, the department chair, for supporting my application for institutional review board approval and providing the necessary resources to conduct this study. I would also like to express my appreciation to Dr. Mary Thompson for her help with participant recruitment and providing access to surveys. Her guidance in designing the questionnaires was invaluable.
I would also like to acknowledge the financial support I received through a research grant from the College of Arts & Sciences. This funding supported my literature review trips to university libraries, covered costs of survey tools and helped transcribe focus group interviews. It was instrumental in completing various components of my project.
I am also extremely thankful to all the middle and high school principals, teachers, school counselors and parents who supported my research by facilitating the recruitment of study participants and providing consent. I appreciate them taking time out of their busy schedules to help with my data collection efforts.
I am deeply grateful to all the students who participated in my surveys and focus groups. This research would not have been possible without their valuable insights, honest perspectives and willingness to share personal experiences. I appreciate their time and openness to discuss sensitive topics. Their contributions have furthered our understanding of the impacts of social media use among adolescents.
I would also like to acknowledge my fellow graduate students for their feedback on my research proposals and early findings. Their thoughtful suggestions and hard questions have strengthened my work substantially. I am thankful for their comradery, encouragement and belief in me throughout this journey.
Finally, I wish to thank my parents for their unconditional love, support and sacrifices that have made this achievement possible. I am grateful to my mother for her endless encouragement and father for instilling the importance of education in me. I also appreciate the support of friends who kept me sane through this process.
In closing, I offer my sincerest thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to the successful completion of this research project. It has truly been a rewarding learning experience and I appreciate all the guidance I received along the way. I hope that the insights from this study can help further discussions around adolescent internet usage and mental well-being.
Sincerely,
