Getting homework assignments is an important part of the school experience for teen Sims in The Sims 4. Whether your goal is to have your Sim focus on studies to improve skills and get into a good college, or you just want a more realistic life simulation, making sure your teen Sim completes their homework on time is key. Here are the various ways to get homework assigned in The Sims 4 and tips for making sure it gets done.
For homework to be assigned, your Sim first needs to be enrolled in school. Teen Sims will automatically be registered to attend school when they age into a teenager. You can check your Sim’s schedule and see if they have any homework assigned by clicking on their character and looking at the schedule panel. If no homework is listed, it may be that their first assignment has not been given out yet. Teen Sims attend school Monday through Friday from 8 am to 2 pm by default.
One way to try and trigger a homework assignment is to have your Sim fully attend a school day without skipping class. Make sure they leave for school on time in the morning and return home by 2 pm. Sims who bunk or ditch class risk not being assigned work. Fully attending school days seems to increase the chance that homework will get doled out at the end of the school week.
Another thing that can help ensure homework is assigned is making sure your Sim focuses on their studies while in class. Have them listen to lectures attentively rather than socializing or becoming disruptive. The more a Sim participates in class, the better their classroom performance will be. Sims with higher Performance stats are more likely to impress their teachers and increase the odds of being assigned extra credit work.
If a homework assignment still has not appeared on your Sim’s schedule after a few full school weeks, you can try having a friendly Sim Phone call with their teacher. Select “Ask about homework” from the call menu. There is a chance the teacher will then assign some work for your Sim to complete. Getting on good terms with educators by keeping relationships positive can help facilitate more frequent homework handouts as well.
Once homework has been assigned, it will appear on your Sim’s daily schedule from 6-8pm on weekdays. Have them come straight home from school and start working immediately without any distractions or multi-tasking. Homework is completed through the homework activity, but performance and focus levels will impact how quickly it gets finished. Making sure your Sim’s needs are all met before starting and keeping the environment clean and distraction-free can optimize their productivity.
Using homework cheats or mods is another option to force-assign work if it still hasn’t shown up naturally. Typing “testingcheats true” then “statistics.set_statistic Major_Homework 1” will manually give a Sim one unit of homework to complete. Using cheats defeats part of the challenge of ensuring assignments through good school performance.
Once homework is done, you’ll want to have your Sim turn it in before the deadline. Place the completed homework in their backpack then have them click “Turn In Homework” at school the next day. As long as it’s submitted on time, they should receive a completion notification. Completed homework helps boost Sims’ responsible and cognitive skills which contributes to their overall school performance level and GPA.
How well a Sim does on their homework and whether it’s on time or not also impacts their relationship with their teacher. Blowing off assignments or constantly turning them in late will damage this relationship over time as the teacher grows frustrated. While completing homework isn’t always fun, maintaining good performance, focus, and teacher relations is an important part of the educational process in The Sims 4.
Once all homework is completed and turned in throughout a Sim’s school term, their overall class performance and any extra credit will determine what type of report card grade they receive. An A or B average opens up the option for them to apply to attend a university after graduating high school. Doing poorly or slacking on homework could result in a lower GPA that makes entering higher education more difficult.
While getting and staying on top of homework isn’t always easy, keeping teens focused on their studies is an important part of successfully progressing their character’s life through the school system in The Sims 4. With practice, patience, and optimizing their environment, moods, and relationships; your Sim should be able to consistently complete and turn in assignments on time to earn good grades and set themselves up well for the future.
